Today at the Bluebird Café: A Branchful of Birds, Written by Deborah Ruddell, Illustrated by Joan Rankin
Implementation: To use this in a classroom, I would definitely do a read aloud with a discussion about diversity, physical differences, commonalities/uniqueness to follow. Additionally, students could use this book for light research about birds or habitual preferences. To align this book with science, a study of birds could be implemented outside the classroom. Keeping record, making observations and comparing data are all science skills that students need.
